When I see something like this:

My first thought is always, “Yes, that’s cute but what’s it going to look like with my curls?” Generally, the internets are full of gorgeous hair styles that are “so easy to do!” if you have the hair of a Breck girl. I do not. I have the hair of… well, whoever has hair that is curly and frizzy and thin and brown. I don’t know who that is.
Anyway. In case you were wondering, this is what that ‘do looks like if you happen to have hair that is curly and frizzy and thin and brown. I know there must be more than just me with this kind of hair, right?

Do you know what’s great about Flickr? You can find anything you are interested in over there. You can be looking for something to do with your hair and stumble across an entire group of people devoted to braiding their hair every Wednesday. Then you can spend an hour looking through hundreds of pictures of people with gorgeous locks and then spend another hour trying to get your wiry, curly hair to do something similar. The next thing you know, it’s four o’clock and the kids are getting off the bus, the pile of laundry on the couch is still waiting and the dishes are still sitting in the sink.

But your hair looks pretty and you feel oh-so-fancy. The internets are fabulous.

I was using a camera I haven’t picked up in a while and scrolled through some pictures I forgot were on it. I came across this one from a doctor’s office when we were having Middle’s heart murmur diagnosed last year:

Look at all that hair! It was so long and thick and gorgeous. I would kill for hair like that. *Sigh* But she wanted short, so short she has. It’s hard to believe that this was only a year ago. She looks like a totally different kid with short hair. It still makes me sad to know all that glorious hair is gone.
Although I don’t miss brushing that tangled mess at all.

I have bangs.
I haven’t had bangs since I was eighteen. It’s very strange. Possibly in a very bad way. We’ll see.

When you spy your normally perfectly coiffed dad across the breakfast table and he looks like this?

You know it’s going to be a great day.
