6.12.365: Wishon

We took the littlest member of the family on his first hiking trip. He did surprisingly well.

He did not want to be carried. He wanted to walk. Even when the path followed a shear cliff that gave me heart palpitations. Even when the poison oak was so thick I was wishing for a machete. Even when his tiny legs were so tired he could barely lift his feet. Don’t you know he’s a big kid? Anything his sisters can do, he can do too. He doesn’t need us anymore.

Too bad I still need him.
